When We Were Kings

In 1974, the legendary Muhammad Ali, at age 32, is perceived by many as past his peak, while the heavyweight titleholder George Foreman, a decade his junior, stands at the pinnacle of his career. Ambitious promoter Don King sees an opportunity to forge his reputation and proposes a colossal showdown, offering both fighters a tantalizing five million dollars each to meet in the ring. The match gains traction when King secures financial backing from Mobutu Sese Suko, the authoritarian ruler of Zaire, setting the stage for the famous “Rumble in the Jungle.” This iconic event also features a music festival with performances by celebrated African American artists such as James Brown and B.B. King. When We Were Kings (1996) is a must-see. You can stream and watch the film online free right here using platforms like cineby or 123Movies.
