Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny

In “Walking With Destiny,” the focus is on Winston Churchill’s time when he was politically sidelined, during which he was one of the earliest voices opposing Adolf Hitler and the Nazi ideology, also advocating for the Jewish people who were imperiled by the Nazi regime. Historian John Lukacs notes that while Churchill didn’t single-handedly win the War in 1940, his absence would have undoubtedly led to its loss. Sir Martin Gilbert, the film’s historical consultant and Churchill’s official biographer, suggests that had Churchill’s early warnings concerning Nazi racial policies towards Jews been heeded, the Holocaust might have been averted. The documentary delves into the enduring relevance of Churchill’s legacy in the 21st century and considers how his leadership continues to inspire contemporary politicians and diplomats.
